No 1 in Finance, Commercial Financial Controller opportunity with a market leading, highly regarded, expanding law firm. Our client is the market leader in its niche field of expertise - growing from £2m to £10m in the last 8 years and on track for further steady expansion. In this new role created due to the current Finance Director looking to go part time - and ultimately retire in the next year or 2 - this is an excellent opportunity to join the business as No 1 in Finance role, taking full responsibility for the firm's financial affairs, supporting the ongoing growth of the business and leading & developing the finance team. In this highly visible and autonomous role, your remit will include:

  • Providing Business Partnering support to the Managing Director, Client Services Director, Legal Services Director, HR & Ops Director, Sales Director and IT Director
  • Fully responsible for managing the finance team and day to day financials of the business
  • Ensuring the team achieves timely & accurate processing of financial transactions and completion of the management/financial accounts
  • Development of modern & sophisticated reports to meet the evolving need of the business
  • Sales, Margin & Customer analysis - identifying opportunities to drive company performance and provide broader services to new and existing customers
  • Attending Quarterly Senior Management meetings - Presenting and explaining financial results and Management Information
  • Championing risk management and compliance (Solicitors Riles/SRA)
  • Ensuring compliance with anti-laundering regulations
  • Development of robust financial controls, processes, systems & procedures
  • Treasury/Cash Management
  • Debt and Disbursement reviews
  • First point of contact for the accountants, banks and auditors
  • Managing the insurances of the businesses
  • Supporting the business on various business improvement projects/initiatives
  • Additional responsibilities - the remit could include greater operational & commercial involvement, dependant on the profile of the successful applicant

Applicants will be experienced Finance Managers/Controllers or Directors who have previous experience within the legal sector. Whilst our client is preferably looking for a fully qualified CIMA, ACA, or ACCA finance professional, non-qualified applicants who have a proven track record in the legal sector will also be considered. The MD is looking to consider a broad candidate profile range as due to the nature of this role there could be greater operational & commercial involvement depending on the profile and experience of the successful candidate. As such, the salary range for this role is envisaged £55- 65k but the MD would be happy to consider applicants at a higher salary level if they have an impressive legal sector career record and can clearly bring additional skills, knowledge & input which will support the business in achieving its full potential.
